Mausam Jamwal

Urban Planning Manager

Mausam joined Just Cities in the summer of 2023 as the Community-Engaged Planning Manager, where she works on facilitating the incorporation of community voices in planning projects. She recently graduated from UC Berkeley with a Masters in City Planning, with a background in architecture. Her experience as an architect managing urban design projects turned her attention to the need for transformative community-led planning processes. She has previously worked in youth engagement with the Center for Cities+Schools at UC Berkeley, conducted research on centering community ownership in environmental justice and crisis planning, and has worked with the San Francisco Planning Department in clarifying aspects of the Planning Code. She loves to explore places through sights, words, music, and art.

She currently acts as the Project Manager for the East Oakland Emissions Reduction Plan Steering Committee led by Communities for a Better Environment (CBE) and the Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD), and facilitates research towards opportunities to address past inequity to build healthier, more sustainable communities in collaboration with the West Oakland Environmental Indicators Project (WOEIP) and the California Air Resources Board (CARB).
